Day 7: Coast then Josselin & a Buddy driving Experience
Still trying to get the font smaller - bear with me ….
Stopped at a pharmacie for Martyn’s Ibruprofen
Nice comment about the vehicles as we waited in the car park from a local man.
Think Jenks was trying to get inside the shop but couldn’t quite fit!
Failed at the first hurdle on breakfast - only sold coffee lottery tickets and cigarettes - no food as the French don’t eat between early breakfast and 12:00. Some had clearly been drinking since breakfast time!!
Arrived at Trégastel - the rain held off while we went onto the beach to view the incredible stones.
The sea was too rough for a skimming competition so we struck silly poses for the cameras instead
Then the ladies and Robin couldn’t resist doing some collecting of some nice stones and shells - just to make the vehicles a tad heavier.
The restaurants then started to open so we went and had our brunch of galletes and coffee - and also found probably the cleanest loos we have found so far (not much competition really…)
Steve showed his expertise in eating his evenly - starting from the the middle.. It was like crepe origami!
Wendy and Lucy were wishing they had ordered the fish soup as it smelled delicious - but we left and got back into the vehicles for the second leg to the …. CAMPSITE ( with showers)….
The set up is definitely getting faster. The ‘kids’ went off in Buddy to buy food for tomorrow evening and also fuel up Buddy as well as book a restaurant for a double-birthday meal.
The proprietor fitted us all into 3 pitches for a very reasonable price. We left Buddy as our ‘bus’ to get us into town with Duncan doing two trips to get us to the restaurant on time. They had said they closed at 9pm but by 10:30pm we were just finishing our delicious desserts….
Robin thankfully didn’t offer to share his snails and Martin was NOT sharing those profiteroles…
And of course the only ones left in there!
We then took advantage of some warmer evening weather to take a walk around the beautify fairly-tale like village of Josselin
As we got back to the vehicle with Wendy expecting to do 2 leisurely trips back to the campsite we suddenly realised the time and that the gates closed at some point so ALL 8 of us got into Buddy - last time Lucy was in the front middle seat of Buddy was aged 6 with her knitting needles on the way to school! . We set off back - there were squealing gears, clutch and engine to get set off up the hill be we made it back safety to find the gate closed. Oh dear - what now?
We tried politely showing the card to the reader with no joy. We did notice the security camera…
The sensible thing to do would be to have left the vehicle in the car park at the gate but on top of Buddy is Duncan’s bed in the roof tent..
Sooooooo …. There was an attempt made to squeeze Buddy between the two gates - we still all believe with a wide swing it would have fitted but the campsite owner had clearly had enough watching us try so opened the gate.
The comments were choice the following morning (we sent the biggest member of the group (Duncan)to intimidate the little chap into giving us our deposit back- which he did) and he did say we could have just rung him - but anyway - we were back in time to get a good night’s sleep all round.
Steve and Dianne also managed to do some washing with drying waiting for the token from the shop in the morning - this was the first test to see how really angry the campsite proprietor was….
The campsite was great with our own hedges between the pitches - it looked like it would be noisy by the road but not many of us heard it…. Say no more about the time to bed and alcohol consumption…. Martyn did offer a cuppa but everyone crashed out ..
